Opening of the New Bridge- Will this reduce the summer traffic?

Wow, during these eight weeks I have seen the island at a different season, when I first started the course 16 weeks ago- it was the end of the summer. I saw some of the summer traffic mixed in with the new bridge construction. I have seen angry residents as well as careless visitors adding to the traffic and noise to the community.

One of the city plans, I learned, were to build a bridge that had additional lanes and make the main ave into a four lane street. However these proposals caused a lot of anger and political stops which delayed the project for 10 years. Additionally the design of the bridge was critical since it is a landmark to the tiny community.

After ten years, the old bridge is no longer in service and they finally finished construction of the new bridge and have opened it to the book. I wish I could be around for the summer period to see if this bridge has done anything to reduce the traffic.
