Shared Prosperity

Part I & II

This town is mostly residential with the main strip commercial restaurants. I do not see any evidence of any grants. The only developments I see is the construction of waterfront condo’s. The majority of the business are food restaurants and marinas/fishing. This is an example where the community and the commercial business do not align in thought. While Businesses advertise City Island as the get away location of the Bronx where you can enjoy a nice seafood meal on the waterfront, the residents want city island to be the forgotten location of the Bronx. The restaurants bring heavy traffic in the summer time. The busiest holiday is Mothers Day where it can take over an hour to get past quarter of a mile. Unfortunately, this is a theme of shared prosperity that the community lacks. The residents protest the construction of new restaurants, angry at the traffic and the non locals littering in the street while the businesses are only focused on profit. I do not see the businesses giving back to the community in any way or launching some kind of community parties or cleaning up the parks. This is an area where I would like to see the business respect the community and try to peacefully coexist with the residents

In the GIS map to the left, the yellow symbolizes the main avenue with all the restaurants. The red is the new development condos available for sale.
