Part of this assignment, I decided to dedicate a whole page for the bridge. This bridge is considered to be a local landmark. The original bridge opened in 1905. It lasted for over 100 years when it was finally retired in 2015.

There was an intermediate bridge and the new bridge opened in 2017. I even learned that in 2015, during the time when the new temporary bridge was supposed to go live, it partially collapsed. The residents did not feel safe riding this temporary bridge and caused some stir. However, NYC DOT wanted to reassure the residents and conducted tests to ease the fear of the residents. According to wikipedia, the NYCDOT drove firetrucks and heavy machinery to prove that the intermediate bridge was safe and fixed.
